Body in suitcase: Woman was strangled to death before stuffed in bag

KLANG: The body which was found stuffed in a suitcase left inside a drain in Kampung Bukit Kapar yesterday, was that of a woman who had been strangled to death.

Klang Utara district deputy OCPD Superintendent Omar Sappi said this was revealed in post mortem results carried out on the victim, who was aged between 30 and 40.

"The body had decomposed. Three strangulation marks were found on the victim's neck. A purple beaded shawl was also found on her neck," he said.

He said the victim, whose race and nationality had yet to be determined, was five feet tall and fair-skinned.

She was clad in a purple round neck T-shirt and a pair of black slacks.

No identification was found on the victim. Omar urged those who have missing family members to call the Klang Utara district police headquarters at 03-3291 2222.

Yesterday, a police corporal made a gruesome discovery after finding the suitcase which was left inside a drain on Jalan Belimbing.

The corporal, attached to Istana Negara, had gone to check on the suitcase after he was informed by his nephew of the discovery about 11am.

The suitcase was left about 300m from the nephew's house.
