Case of woman who slept through car hijacking: Accomplice surrenders

SHAH ALAM: A youth surrendered himself to police yesterday, identifying himself as the accomplice of a suspected robber who hijacked a woman's rented car and drove from Shah Alam to Puchong as she slept.

Shah Alam OCPD Shafien Mamat said the 20-year-old went to the Section 9 police station at 6pm yesterday.

"He decided to surrender because he was afraid of his safety," said Shafien, adding that investigations are still on-going.

Yesterday, it was reported that a woman was in such deep slumber that she slept as a man entered her unlocked car parked in Dataran Shah Alam and drove all the way to Puchong with her in it.

The woman and her husband had decided to stop their car and rest there at 6am last Saturday.

The woman had slept in the car alone while her husband slept on the steps next to Dataran Shah Alam.

At 6.20am, the suspected robber and his accomplice on a motorcycle opened the unlocked door of the car and stole valuable items and left.

However, they returned three minutes later and took the car keys from the husband's pocket, before one of them drove the car away.
