MH17: JIT looking at options to prosecute, says Liow

SEPANG: The Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 Joint Investigation Team (JIT) is looking for alternative means to prosecute charges related to MH17 in international court.

“Our Attorney-General and also authorities from other countries are looking to find the best way of taking this case to court," Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said on Thursday.

He said currently the JIT is waiting for the completion of criminal investigations on the tragedy.

"The criminal investigations are not over yet. We're waiting for that report, once we get it we will be able to file charges to find the truth on MH17," he said.

The JIT team comprises of representatives from Malaysia, Australia, Belgium, Netherlands and Ukraine.

MH17 crashed on July 17, 2014 after being hit by a Russian-made Buk missile over eastern Ukraine. It was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. A total of 283 passengers, 80 children, and 15 crew members were killed in the tragedy.
