Perak end 11-year wait to reach FA Cup semis

SELAYANG: Nurridzuan Abu Hassan's first half winner gave Perak 1-0 win over Kuala Lumpur in the FA Cup quarter-final second leg in Selayang on Friday to send the Super League side into the semi-finals for the first time in 11 years.

Perak, who also won the first leg 1-0 in Ipoh on March 19, will meet another Premier League team in PKNS in the last-four.

PKNS completed a 7-2 aggregate win over second-tier rivals Sime Darby after winning 3-2 in Malacca in the return leg.

Gabriel Guerra (12th), Ahmad Shakir Ali (18th) and Juan Manuel Cobelli (65th) were on target for PKNS at the Hang Jebat Stadium while a weakened Sime Darby replied through Lee Gil-hoon (19th) and Frederic Pooda (80th).

Kedah were held 1-1 by Sabah in Alor Star but still advanced 3-2 on aggregate and will meet either Johor Darul Ta'zim or Police, who face each other in Johor Baru on Saturday, in the semi-finals.

Nurridzuan, who has struggled with a nagging knee injury since last year, scored his first goal in 14 games in the 42nd minute after he swept home Norhakim Isa's pass to effectively kill Premier League leaders KL's chances of ending their own 11-year semi-final drought.

Kedah did not need to hit top form against Premier League strugglers Sabah at the Darulaman Stadium where Ahmad Fakri Saarani hit the post after six minutes for Kedah before Farhan Roslan won a penalty for Kedah which Carlos Kahe converted in the 23rd minute.

Ummareng Bachok headed in his first senior goal for Sabah's equaliser on the hour but the visitors could not find another goal to force extra-time.
