Tourism Ministry targets 30.5 million tourist arrivals this year

SHAH ALAM: The Tourism Ministry is targeting a total of 30.5 million tourists arrivals this year, which would translate into a total tourism income of RM103 billion.

This will mark a slight increase from the 25.7 million arrivals in 2015, which contributed a total of RM69.5 billion in tourism revenue, said Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.

"We are fairly confident of achieving this target considering that Malaysia is still very much a favourite when it comes to European and China visitors," he said at the ground-breaking ceremony of Double Tree by Hilton i-City, today.

"We are pleased with the works that i-Bhd had taken to develop the i-City as this attraction has and will play a big part in drawing more tourists here."

He also noted that Malaysia has set a target of 36 million tourist arrivals into the country by 2020.
