Pan Borneo Sabah project delivery partners ready to tackle first phase

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today witnessed the signing of Project Delivery Partner (PDP) agreement to manage and implement the construction of 706km-Pan Borneo Sabah highway project.

Works Ministry said Syarikat Borneo Highway PDP Sdn Bhd had been appointed as the PDP to carry out the project.

Three parties put down their signatures on the agreement - Works Ministry secretary-general Datuk Sri Zohari Akob for the Federal Government; Sabah State Secretary Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman for the state government and Syarikat Borneo Highway PDP managing director Ir. Shahelmey Yahya for the PDP company.

“The PDP will act as the single point of accountability responsible for managing and supervising the first phase’s development for the project at reasonable cost and to be completed fully before Dec 31, 2021,” said the Works Ministry in a statement.

The 706km-stretch was estimated to cost RM12.8 billion and would start at Jalan Donggongon-Papar, the first package under the Pan Borneo Highway project to be developed.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said last month, the PDP could appoint consultants to do all the studies, finalise all the technical aspects and decide on the number of work packages would be needed under the agreement.
