Tun M denies seeking foreign intervention

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today denied he was seeking the intervention of foreign media in the internal affairs of the country.

He said this, following an announcement by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar that four investigation papers over various allegations involving Dr Mahathir, including sedition.

“I didn't ask for any foreign interference. All I said was that all the means of redress in this country have been shut down by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak. So, I will tell the foreign press about that.

“If they want to investigate, let them investigate," said Dr Mahathir this morning, after delivering a talk on nation building at a forum hosted by the Human Life Advancement Foundation (HLAF) which he chairs.

Khalid also announced that some investigations into the matter have been concluded.

“I’ve already been under investigation twice. They've investigated and arrested all my friends and as if that was not enough, the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) have been after them too,” said Dr Mahathir.
