Najib visits Kampung Tun Razak in Serian

SERIAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has reiterated his pledge to improve the lives of Sarawakians by prospering the state with more development programmes.

Reminiscing about a trip made to Kampung Triboh by his late father, Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, he said there was a connection between the village and himself.

Subsequent to the visit by the second Prime Minister five decades ago, the place, located about 70km from Kuching, also became known as Kampung Tun Razak.

"There is a history in Kampung Triboh here since my late father had visited this village on Nov 13, 1966,” he said.

"And now it is my turn to visit this village.

"My late father had made his contributions (to the village and Sarawak generally). I intend to follow his footsteps by making my own contribution for all Sarawakians," Najib, who is also BN chairman, said in his speech during a gathering at the village, which is populated by the Iban Remun community.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem, who is the Serian Member of Parliament, and Barisan Nasional's candidate for the Bukit Semuja seat, John Ilus, were present.

Najib also recorded his appreciation to the people of Sarawak, who he said had been staunch and sincere supporters of BN.

To reciprocate their support, Najib assured the people in the state that the BN government would spare no efforts in looking after the welfare of Sarawakians and Malaysians in general.

"I am the "apai besai" (big father) Malaysia and it is my duty to look after the welfare of the people living in all parts of the state from Perlis until Sabah.

"Rest assured, the lot of the people in Sarawak will also be taken care of regardless if you are Iban, Bidayuh, Malay, Melanau, Kenyah and Chinese.

"We are in a big team which is BN that has the capability to develop the state," he added.
