Chong Wei beats Lin Dan to enter Asia Badminton Championships final

KUALA LUMPUR: Lee Chong Wei recorded his 11th career win over Lin Dan when the World No 2 edged the two-time Olympic champion 22-20, 15-21, 21-4 in the men’s singles semi-finals of the Asia Badminton Championships in Wuhan today.

Chong Wei bounced back from a 20-17 deficit with five straight points to take the first game. However, Lin Dan tightened his game and won the second to take the match into a deciding game.

The Malaysian turned the tide in the third, catching the error-prone Lin Dan with his powerful cross court smashes and crafty net play to win the match in 71 minutes. It was Chong Wei’s second win over Lin Dan after the China Open last November.

Chong Wei, who won the Asian title in 2006, will play World No 1 Chen Long, who eased past compatriot Tian Houwei 21-14, 21-16, for the crown tomorrow.
