Three claim trial to obstructing RTD officers from carrying out duties

KUALA LUMPUR: Three men claimed trial at the magistrate's court today for obstructing Road Transport Department (RTD) officials from carrying out their duties.

The men, Chan Hong Fai, 46; Lim Gat Chun, 30; and Tan Swee Boon, 38; were alleged to have committed the offence at the Awan Besar R&R area of the Kesas Highway in Cheras about 1pm on April 26.

They were charged under Section 186 of the Penal Code.

Deputy public prosecutor Noor Jazilah Mohd Yushaa asked that no bail be offered to the trio as the offence is a non-bailable one.

Defence counsel S. Prakash however asked the court to impose affordable bail for his clients.

"Bail is only offered to ensure presence in court. My clients are innocent until proven guilty.

"They are all married with their own families and their family members are here to bail them."

Magistrate Mohd Faizal Ismail set bail at RM3,000 in one surety each and fixed June 15 for the case to be mentioned.
