Kelantan school hit by second wave of hysteria

KOTA BARU: SMK Pengkalan Chepa 2 here was hit by second-wave of hysteria yesterday, this time involving more than 40 student.

A school spokesman said the incident which began around 10am, started among its female students.

“Several female students started screaming for no apparent reason. This spread from class to class.

“The male students then followed suit,” said the spokesman.

The spokesman said two ambulances were summoned to the school to send the affected students to the nearest clinic.

It was leant that the incident led to almost 1,000 students being sent home early after some classes were cancelled.

It is understood, however, that classes continued normally today.

Efforts to contact school principal Siti Hawa Mat for comments are ongoing.

The incident at the school is the second such occurrence this year. Last month, nearly 100 of its students were struck by widespread hysteria, leading to the school having to call in ‘bomohs’ to tackle the problem.
