Guan Eng arrives at MACC office

GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office here this morning, here.

It is believed that his presence at the MACC office is to give a statement in connection with his Jalan Pinhorn bungalow purchase last year.

Lim accompanied by his legal advisers, Gobind Singh Deo, Ramkarpal Singh and R.S.N. Rayer, arrived in his official car at 9.35am

His driver drove straight into the MACC office compound.

Meanwhile, an administrator from the official fanpage "Di mana ada parpu, di situ ada mamu" held out a manila card to welcome Lim.

On it read "Please lock the window for the safety of my CM".

Muhsin Latheef, the administrator, when approached later, said there had been a case involving the MACC previously and he was concerned about Lim's safety.

Several DAP lawmakers, including state executive councillor Lim Hock Seng, and other party supporters were seen outside the MACC office to lend their support to Lim.

Yesterday, MACC investigations division director Datuk Azam Baki said Lim and his wife, Betty Chew, had been called to record their statement in connection with the purchase of their RM2.8 million bungalow.

He had said that both the MACC and Lim’s lawyers had agreed on the meeting date last week.

Lim’s bungalow became the subject of controversy after Tasek Gelugor member of parliament Datuk Shabudin Yahaya told the recent Dewan Rakyat sitting that it was sold below its market value.

Shabudin had claimed that the bungalow, on a 10,161 sq ft plot of land, was bought by Lim on Oct 25 last year for RM2.8 million, when the market value of the property should have been between RM6 million and RM6.5 million.
