SIMUNJAN: The Fire and Rescue Department team stationed at Sungai Batang Sadong here is in the midst of tagging debris belonging to the missing helicopter, which was ferrying several VIPs including a deputy minister.
The debris was found at about 9.50am today, some 15km from the Sebuyau dock.
However, the search and rescue team is facing difficulties maintaining its position above water due to strong currents.
Two boats have been deployed, led by Operations chief Azman Julaihi who is also the Fire and Rescue Department Samarahan Zone Head.
The helicopter debris is expected to be hauled to the dock, as it is nearest to the discovery point.
However, no further details on the debris could be furnished to the media as of now.
Meanwhile, Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) director-general, Datuk Azharuddin Abdul Rahman said the debris was found in Sungai Batang Sadong in Simunjan, not Sg Batang Lupar as reported earlier.
