LAHAD DATU: A total of 66 illegal immigrants were rounded up during the Ops Gasak 5 at three separate squatter areas here today.
The joint operation held at Kampung Unta, Kg Pisang and Kg Bugis, were coordinated by the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom).
Those detained were aged between three to 60-years-old, Esscom said in a statement.
"We started from 3am until noon, focusing on squatter villages known to be hideouts for illegal immigrants.
"A total of 800 people were inspected during the operation today. Sixty six were brought to the temporary detention centre at the district police station for documentation processing before being deported home," said Esscom comander Datuk Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid.
