KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit was traded lower against the US dollar on lack of buying appetite, said a dealer. At 9.10 am, the local unit was quoted at 4.1040/1080 against the US dollar from 4.0700/0760 on Monday’s closing.
The downtrend in the local bourse also weighed on the local currency, dealers said.
The local note was lower against a basket of major currencies.
It fell against the Singapore dollar to 3.0121/0168 from 3.0004/0059 on Friday, weakened against the yen to 3.8550/8605 from 3.8030/8104 and depreciated against the euro to 4.6137/6199 from 4.5987/6071 previously.
The ringgit slipped vis-a-vis the British pound to 6.8310/8375 from 5.8767/8862 on Friday. -- Bernama
