Prasarana names 24 new companies which pre-qualify for LRT system work packages

KUALA LUMPUR: Public transport operator Prasarana Malaysia Bhd this morning announced 24 new companies that are pre-qualified for the remaining three LRT System Work packages.

The three packages are Track Works and Conductor Power Rails, Depot Equipment and Track Maintenance Vehicles and Automated Fare Collection.

The 24 new shortlisted companies today join the 96 companies that were also shortlisted in May this year for other various categories towards the completion of the 37km Light Rail Transit Line 3 (LRT3) project.

"The tender process is now in full swing and we want to reiterate our commitment that all parties will adhere to high standards of integrity throughout the execution of the project," said president and group chief executive officer, Datuk Azmi Abdul Aziz during the announcement, here.

The eight categories that were announced in May were; (1) Station, Viaduct, Park & Ride, Ancillary Buildings, Facilities/ Train Depot (Open); (2) Station, Viaduct, Park & Ride, Ancillary Buildings, Facilities/ Train Depot (Bumiputra); (3) Cut & Cover (Open); (4) Bus Depot (Bumiputra); (5) Light Rail Vehicle; (6) Telecommunication; (7) Power Supply & Distribution System + Power SCADA; and (8) Signalling & Train Control System + Platform Screen Doors + Intrusion Prevention System.

Azmi said the successful companies for all the collective contracts will be announced within the next two to three months.

Prasarana did not disclose the value of the contracts; however it has already been estimated that the entire cost of the LRT3 project is at some RM9 billion.
