26 nabbed while attempting to leave country illegally

KOTA TINGGI: Twenty six illegal immigrants including three children, were detained near the Pasir Logok beach, here for attempting to exit the country illegally via a boat.

Marine Police Region 2 commander Assistant Commissioner Paul Khiu Khon Chiang said a team comprising 52 marine police personnel from the Pengerang marine police base raided the Pasir Logok beach in Kuala Sedili Besar at 12.30am today.

The team's presence startled the group of immigrants who were quietly waiting for their boat in the dark at the mangrove area.

The ambush sent the group of immigrants scampering into the mangrove as they tried to flee from the raiding party.

Khiu said the police nabbed 26 illegal immigrants, three of whom were minors.
