Woman charged with possessing terror-related item

KUALA LUMPUR: Terror suspect Nor Izatul Farahirah Ismail was charged at the magistrate's court today with possessing a terror group-related item last month.

The 36-year-old woman, clad in black 'jubah' and long headscarf, nodded her head to indicate that she understood the charge read to her before magistrate Zuhair Rosli.

However, no plea was recorded.

Unemployed Nor Izatul was accused of having in possession a black headband with the Arabic phrase 'Lailahaillallah Muhammadarrasulullah' and 'Allah Rasul Muhammad'.

The offence was allegedly committed in a house at Jalan Kampung Pandan, Desa Pandan here at 11.50am on May 19.

She faces imprisonment for up to seven years, or fine, if convicted under Section 130 JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code.

Meanwhile, before magistrate Mohd Rehan Mohd Aris, the unrepresented accused claimed trial to unlawfully possessing two MyKads of one Aisyah Marcella Lee Abdullah and Calysta Ying.

The offence under Section 25 (1) (e) of the National Registration Regulations 1990 was allegedly committed at the same place and time.

Nor Izatul was also charged at the Sessions Court with having in possession the same two MyKads which had been forged with intent to use it as genuine.

She claimed trial to the offence before judge Zaman Mohd Noor.

No bail was granted to the accused and her cases will be up for mention on August 5.

Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar prosecuted.
