19 suffer food poisoning from food at Paka Ramadan Bazaar stall

KUALA TERENGGANU: Nineteen people were reported to have suffered diarrhea and vomiting after they ate food bought from a Ramadan bazaar stall in Paka, yesterday.

In the incident five people were admitted to Dungun Hospital, while another was warded at Kuantan Medical Centre.

According to a victim Rohani Muda, 31, who suspected the cause was pudding bought from a stall at the bazaar on Tuesday evening, she was awakened by severe stomach cramps and had to visit the toilet several times yesterday morning.

She said due to the stomach cramps and continuous vomiting she went to a private clinic but her condition did not improve and she was taken to Kuantan Medical Centre at 1 pm today.

Meanwhile, the victim’s husband Norhisham Manap, 36, was surprised after learning that other people who bought the pudding from the same stall also suffered food poisoning.

State Health Department director, Dr Mohamad Omar who confirmed the incident said the department had taken food samples from the stall for analysis.
