Sunzen Biotech bullish on new market prospects

PETALING JAYA: Animal health specialist Sunzen Biotech Bhd is eyeing new markets, such as the United States and Iran, for expansion this year and is bullish on the prospects.

The ACE Market-listed company also aims to increase its presence in existing markets in the Asia Pacific and Middle East, said executive director Jim Hong.

Sunzen markets a wide range of animal health products, including feed additives, nutritional feed supplements, veterinary pharmaceuticals, animal vaccines and other animal healthcare products for livestock such as poultry, swine, goats and cattle.

The company also develops and manufactures non-antibiotic animal health products.

It is now importing and distributing OzMade Liquidplant, an earthworm extract fertiliser from New South Wales, Australia.

“We are targeting to sell the product to more than 1,000 farmers in Malaysia, as well as to supermarkets, Baba Products and Jasmine Food Corp. We believe this product will generate more sales for Sunzen,” he told Business Times at the “My City My Farm 2016” campaign, here, recently.

The campaign, which ran for 10 days, aimed to raise awareness of environmental sustainability and inspire the community to plant for a healthier living.

The event was a joint partnership with Sunzen, the Australian High Commission, Australian Chamber of Commerce, Jasmine, Baba, MBG Fruits, Spritzer and Faster Advertising Group (FAG).

FAG executive director Melvin Ong said the campaign was expected to encourage high-rise residential owners to nurture planting and farming habits.

“It is our task and obligation to hand down an undiminished environment to the next generation so that they can live comfortably and enjoy a healthier living.

“Who says you can’t plant in an apartment or condominium? Many people want to live in high-rise buildings but they don’t have space for a huge garden. We expect people to be encouraged to start a small herb garden in the kitchen and if they have a balcony, to start planting,” added Ong.
