Volvo V40 T5 gets Drive-E powertrain

VOLVO’s award-winning Drive-E powertrains, known for offering a good blend of performance, lower emissions and fuel consumption, is now available for the Volvo V40 T5.

Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the V40 T5 Drive-E produces a maximum output of 245 hp (180 kW) and a maximum torque of 350 Nm between 1,500 rpm to 4,800 rpm. This translates to a 0-100 km/h performance of only 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 240 km/h.

“Our main goal during the development of the Drive-E powertrains was to deliver efficient driving pleasure — powerful engines that consume less fuel and emit lower emissions,” Volvo Car Malaysia managing director Lennart Stegland said.

The V40 T5 Drive-E certainly improves on the figures set by its predecessor by recording better fuel consumption at 6.1 l/100 km (fuel efficiency at 16.4 km/l) and lower emissions at 143 g/km, this is despite producing 32 hp and 50 Nm more power.

Stegland noted that the V40 T5 already offers the best, in-class active safety features, such as, City Safety, Blind Spot Information System, Cross Traffic Alert and Park Assist Pilot; the addition of a new powertrain will only serve to strengthen Volvo’s market offer.

The retail price (on-the-road, without insurance, inclusive of GST) for the Volvo V40 T5 Drive-E is RM192,888.00, which includes a five-year warranty and five years of Volvo-on- Call Roadside Assist.

The V40 T5 is available in five exterior colours name ly Ic e White, Ember Black, Raw Copper, Bright Silver and Osmium Grey.
