Nine Malaysians to return from Istanbul today, one still missing

KUALA LUMPUR: Nine Malaysians stranded at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport, the scene of a horrific terror attack yesterday, are expected to arrive home today.

Malaysian embassy officer Abdul Majid told the NST the first group includes a Muhammad Amirul Amber Aznan, 22 whose friend Adam Roslan, 22, is still missing.

The group is scheduled to arrive at 11.35am at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Adam was reportedly unable to be contacted by his mother, Mahiran Mohd Noor, after the Moscos Aviation Institute, where he was studying, had called her at 5am on Wednesday to tell her he was okay.

Adam has been unreachable so far and his location is unknown. The Malaysian Embassy is working with Turkish authorities to help locate Adam.

Wisma Putra has confirmed that Adam's name was not listed as among those who died or injured in the incident.

On Tuesday, three attackers opened fire and blew themselves up at the international departure terminal of the Ataturk Airport.

It was reported that at least 36 people perished in the deadly attack while 147 others were injured.
