RTD to generate RM17 million revenue from 'F' number plate series

PUTRAJAYA: The Road Transport Department (RTD) expects to generate up to RM17 million in revenue for the 'F' number plate series.

In a statement yesterday, RTD said the 'F' prefix series would be among the highest revenue yield, much like the 'WWW' and 'BMW' number plate series.

"The F1 number plate recorded the highest bid of RM836,000.

"The bid surpassed the amount for the 'W1N' plate which was bid for at RM748,000 previously," the department said.

Yesterday, it was announced that the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, won the bid to secure the highly sought after ‘F1’ vehicle number plate.

Registration for the F number plate series opened on June 1 and ended at noon on June 14, the department said.

During the period, RTD received 11,683 registration forms.

Out of the 9,999 number plate registration that was opened, a total of 2,276 numbers were tendered.

Bidding results for the 'F' number plate can be reviewed beginning July 1.

Successful bidders can start making the remaining payments for the 'F' number plate series on July 3 (for states that work on Sundays) and July 4 (for other states).
