PADANG TERAP: Don't use hate politics and cause friction among races, Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said today.
In chastising Taiping Member of Parliament Nga Kor Ming over his Facebook post which allegedly insulted the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations, Mahdzir said Nga was being immature and rude in sharing the post.
"We must respect people from other races. We cannot use hate politics to foster hatred among different races.
"The giving of duit Raya has been a long-time tradition for Muslims. Nga has poked fun and politicised our celebrations.
"To me, this a very rude act. It shows that DAP leaders are not mature. Nga should not have done something that can stir up feelings of dissatisfaction," he said on the sidelines of the Padang Terap Hari Raya open house, held at the Padang Kerasak Community Centre here today.
Mahdzir was commenting on the post recently uploaded by Nga, carrying a caricature which insulted the Aidilfitri celebrations.
Checks also showed that the post has since been removed, and that Nga's Facebook, at press time, was not accessible.
