Sanjeevan arrested again, set to be remanded tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Crime Watch Task Force (MyWatch) chairman Datuk R. Sri Sanjeevan, who was arrested last month for alleged criminal intimidation and extortion, was arrested yet again today.

The 32-year old was arrested at the Kajang police headquarters about 4.30pm following a new police report lodged against him.

His lawyer R.Prakash said that since Sanjeevan's initial arrest on June 22, there have been seven reports lodged against him.

Sanjeevan was detained under the Prevention of Crime Act (Poca).

Federal police Anti-vice, Gaming and Secret Societies Division (D7) principal assistant director Datuk Roslee Chik said police will obtain a remand order for Sanjeevan at the Jalan Duta magistrate's court tomorrow.

Last month, Sanjeevan was arrested by a team from Bukit Aman's Criminal Investigation Department at 10.50pm at the Nilai toll plaza, after a gambling operator claimed that Sanjeevan extorted him of RM25,000 in protection money.

Two days after his arrest, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said three more individuals have come forward to lodge police reports against Sanjeevan for alleged extortion.
