Man burnt to death in Sibu car-lorry collision

SIBU: A man burnt to death after his car was involved on a traffic accident with a lorry near the YMCA Camp in Jalan Sibu-Bintulu this morning.

A Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said the department were alerted to the incident at 7.25am.

The department dispatched a support vehicle and nine firemen from the Sungai Merah fire station to the scene, located about 40km from the station.

By the time firemen arrived at 8.06pm, the car was already burnt.

“A victim was found trapped in the driver’s seat, burnt beyond recognition.

“The victim’s identity is still unknown. The remains have been sent to the police for further investigation,” the spokesperson said.
