HULU SELANGOR: A picnic at the Sungai Sendat waterfalls in Hulu Yam Bahru for a group of friends turned tragic when one of them drowned this afternoon.
The victim was identified as Zulhilmie Aiman Zulkefli, 16.
Hulu Selangor police chief Superintendent R. Supramaniam said the group, numbering 21 people, had traveled to the location by motorcycle.
“They arrived about 12pm and started swimming. The victim, who did not know how to swim, was suddenly swept away by the strong current.
"His friends immediately alerted the forest rangers. The victim’s body was found about 30 minutes later,” he said.
The victim was later taken to the Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital for post-mortem.
