More than 250 Mat Rempit forced to push own bikes 200 metres for inspection

SEREMBAN: More than 250 motorcyclists were forced to push their vehicles for 200 metres from a roadblock near the Senawang toll plaza to the Road Transport Department (RTD) headquarters for inspection during Ops Rempit today.

Negri Sembilan traffic department staff officer Assistant Superintendent Mohd Hafidzal Abidin said the motorcyclists were ordered to do so for further examinations as well as urine tests.

“During the operation, 285 motorcycles and 300 people were inspected, with 278 summonses issued for various offences.

“Among the offences include riding without a licence, no brake lights, no side mirror and failure to display 'L' and 'P' stickers,” he said in a statement.

Ninety nine personnel consisting of police, RTD enforcement officers and Environment Department officers were involved in the five-hour operation that started at midnight.

During the operation, RTD also seized 46 motorcycles for having no road tax or expired ones. Police arrested one man after he tested positive for marijuana use.
