SINCE Legoland Malaysia Resort opened in 2012, the park continues to add new interactive rides, shows and attractions to delight visitors.

At the recent topping-off ceremony for the Lego Ninjago Ride in Legoland Malaysia, the park announced that this thrilling indoor ride at a new section called Ninjago World will be opened in November.

Riders will play as Ninja warriors-in-training under the guidance of a Ninjago character, Master Wu, to vanquish a legion of enemies using a hand-held device with cutting-edge technology to throw lightning bolts, move shockwaves, send ice soaring and emit fireballs.

Here are 10 things you should know about Malaysia’s first international theme park in Iskandar Puteri.

1. PROJECT X, THE PARK’S FASTEST RIDE

Get on a high-speed ride at Lego Technic which features Project X, the park’s fastest ride. Each car takes four riders on a wild ride up to 18m off the ground. This adrenaline-pumping experience is not for the fainthearted because it has a steep switchback track and with 15 corners, this ride has more twists and turns than any other ride in the park.

2. FAMILIAR LANDMARKS IN MINILAND

Spot Johor Baru’s iconic Sultan Ibrahim Building. You will feel like a giant as you walk around Miniland, designed with 20 highly-detailed clusters. Miniland: Asia, which took three years to complete, showcases iconic landmarks from 17 cities and countries across Asia.

3. BUILD A TOWER AT THE IMAGINATION: BUILD & TEST CENTRE

Imagination is home to the Observation Tower, a ride that takes you up to 60m, the park’s highest point, for a panoramic view of the park. The Build & Test Centre is one of the most popular attractions for Lego inventors who can spend hours designing and constructing structures from their wildest imagination. Inventors may construct gigantic towers and test their buildings on the earthquake table and race cars on a track.

4. LEGO-THEMED ROOMS AND SUITES

Legoland Hotel offers rooms and suites designed in Pirate, Adventure and Kingdom themes. You cannot miss the spectacular knight’s castle constructed from 100,000 Lego bricks. At the check-in desk, spot 12,528 Lego mini figures on the rear wall.

5. THE LEGO MILLENNIUM FALCON

The ultimate Star War’s icon is the Millennium Falcon. Made from 15,000 Lego bricks, this is the most challenging model to construct and took Lego master-builders 143 hours to complete. This replica was a popular attraction until the end of June.

6. 4D MOVIE THEATRE

The Lego Movie 4D: A New Adventure was developed exclusively for Legoland parks. Have fun watching the 12.5-minute show, featuring 3D computer animation with special 4D effects of wind, water and fog.

7. DINO ISLAND’S 12-METRE HIGH WATERFALL

Over at the Land of Adventure, children can have fun as an adventure hero in the Lost Kingdom, bounce on the 4.6m Beetle Bounce tower, play in the Pharaoh’s Revenge area and take a daring journey into Dino Island. In a canoe voyage at Dino Island you explore rocky outcrops, pass man-eating plants and the dinosaur lagoon. The only way out is a sheer drop from a 12-metre high waterfall.

8. LEGO STAR WARS MINILAND!

This is the first of its kind in Asia, featuring seven scenes from the six Star Wars films and The Clone Wars animated series. Opened in 2014, this attraction remains popular with Star Wars fans. Press buttons on the walls to enjoy the animation in each exciting scene.

9. THE LEGO WAVE POOL

This is the largest Legoland Water Park and the first to have a second gate which allows visitors to enjoy just the water park or combined with the theme park. Besides playing at the Joker Soaker, you can have splashing fun with build-a-raft with Lego bricks to float along the river and then ride the waves or cool off in the Lego Wave Pool.

10. THE LEGOLAND EDUPLAY EXPRESS,

For students who may not have the opportunity to visit Legoland Malaysia Resort, the park brings the Legoland experience to them. The specially equipped Legoland EduPlay Express coach tours schools to offer students a Lego-themed learning experience.
