Malaysia ranked among top two Asian countries with high English proficiency

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has emerged as among the top two Asian countries with high English proficiency, according to a survey by the EF English Proficiency Index (EF EPI).

The latest EF EPI survey also ranked Malaysia 14th out of 70 countries in terms of English proficiency.

The only Asian nation ranked higher than Malaysia is Singapore, which came in at 12th place on the global table.

Singapore, Malaysia and Argentina are the only non-European countries to feature in the top 15 of the survey.

The index report states that Malaysia’s average adult English proficiency remains in the High Proficiency band this year, as it has for all editions of the EF EPI.

The EF EPI report is an annual ranking of countries based on the average level of English language skills amongst adults.
