(Olympics) Lin Dan's mind games don't worry Chong Wei

RIO DE JANEIRO: Lin Dan has started his mind games ahead of the Olympics, with the China shuttler saying he will compete in the 2020 edition if Lee Chong Wei does.

The mind games, said national singles coach Tey Seu Bock, will increase as the pressure builds once badminton starts, but Chong Wei is unperturbed.

"Chong Wei may have been worried eight years ago...even four years ago, but he is a different player now.

"Chong Wei has matured and is not going to let Lin Dan or any other China player or official get to him," said Seu Bock when met at the Pavilion 4 training centre in Riocentro on Monday.

Lin Dan denied Chong Wei gold in the last two Olympic finals but the two are drawn to meet in the semi-finals in Rio.

Even this, said Seu Bock, isn't a worry for Chong Wei.

"We have been in Rio for 10 days now and Chong Wei's focus has been on training and maintaining his form.

"He is prepared for all eventualities and is calm ahead of the competition."

Chong Wei starts his Group A campaign against Surinam's Soren Opti on Thursday. Also in his group is Singapore's Derek Wong, who Chong Wei plays on Aug 14.
