Malaysians in Thailand urged to register with embassy or consulate

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysians travelling or residing in Thailand have been urged to register with the embassy in Bangkok or the Consulate General of Malaysia in Songkhla.

In a statement today, the Foreign Ministry said the registration can be done either by email or fax.

The ministry also confirmed that no Malaysians were involved in the series of bombing incidents in several areas across Thailand, namely in Trang, Hua Hin, Surat Thani, Phuket and Nakhon Si Thammarat between Aug 11 and 12 which saw a number of casualties.

“Malaysians travelling to Thailand or those who are residing in Thailand are advised to remain vigilant and pay close attention to personal safety at all times,” it said today.

It said Malaysia strongly condemned the latest attacks.
