Malaysian tanker hijacked with RM1.57m cargo, now believed to be in Batam

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian tanker MT Vier Harmoni, has been hijacked.

The tanker, carrying 900,000 litres of diesel, was reportedly hijacked in waters off the Kuantan Port.

Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) chief Datuk Ahmad Puzi Ab Kahar said the cargo is estimated to be worth RM1.57 million.

“We believe the tanker has been brought to Batam, Indonesia. We have been in touch with our Indonesian counterparts to track down the vessel,” he said via a Twitter update.

MMEA has launched an investigation into the case.
