(Olympics) Lee Chong Wei vs Lin Dan in semi-finals

RIO DE JANEIRO: The showdown is on as shuttler Lee Chong Wei will meet nemesis Lin Dan in the Rio Olympics men's singles semi-finals on Friday after they advanced from the last eight in contrasting styles on Wednesday.

While Chong Wei cruised into the last four, two-time defending champion Lin Dan needed three games to dispose India's K. Srikanth 21-6, 11-21, 21-18 in 64 minutes at Pavilion 4, Riocentro.

Chong Wei advanced after beating Taiwan's Chou Tien Che, the World No 1 winning 21-9, 21-15 in 40​ minutes.

It was another faultless performance from the Malaysian and he said he was looking forward to the semi-finals.

"The fact that my teammates have already made two finals is a source of motivation and I am looking to create history by making it three.

"I felt comfortable on court and will prepare mentally and physically for the semi-finals," said Chong Wei.

Chong Wei is seeking to win Olympic gold after taking silver in the last two editions.
