(Motorsports) Hafizh notches yet another top 10 finish in Moto2 qualifying

KUALA LUMPUR: Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah stayed on track to notch another top 10 finish with a solid performance in Moto2 qualifying at the Czech Republic Motorcycle Grand Prix today.

The Petronas Raceline rider clocked two minutes and 2.528 seconds at the Brno Circuit to secure a respectable 15th on the grid from the 29 riders in the class.

Hafizh, who has notched six top 10 finishes so far this season, collided with Italian Simone Corsi at the Red Bull Ring last week and despite being able to continue racing could only manage 21st.

Moto3 rookie Khairul Idham Pawi, who suffered a minor crash in the second practice on Friday, struggled to make an impact in the dry with his 2:09.739s only good enough for 29th while teammate Hiroki Ono (Japan) will start from 18th (2:08.936s).

The Honda Team Asia rider, who has been earmarked as a future star having won in the wet at both the Argentina and Germany rounds, notched 27th in both qualifying and the race in Austria as he struggled to find a good setup.

Fellow rookie Adam Norrodin did reasonably well by his standards, clocking 2:09.064s for 21st on the grid. The Drive M7 SIC Racing Team rider, who has crashed out of four races this season, finished 23rd at the Red Bull Ring.

SIC teammate Jakub Kornfeil will start his home GP from 10th (2:08.496s).
