NFCorp, Public Bank settlement talks break down

KUALA LUMPUR: The National Feedlot Corporation Sdn Bhd (NFCorp) and four others have failed to amicably settle their lawsuit against Public Bank Bhd over a 2012 leak of confidential account information.

NFCorp's lawyer Syed Ismat Syed Muhammad confirmed the failed settlement attempt.

He was speaking after attending case management of the suit in the chambers of High Court judge Datuk John Louis O'Hara this morning.

Ismat said that Public Bank were not able to accept the proposed terms of settlement put forward by his client.

He said that hearing of the suit would proceed on Oct 21, where NFCorp's executive chairman Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Salleh Ismail is expected to testify.

The bank's lawyer Yoong Sin Min confirmed the breakdown of settlement talks and the continued hearing date.

NFCorp and four others are suing the bank for RM560 million over purported breach of contract to protect the plaintiffs' bank account confidentiality.

The other plaintiffs are Salleh, and NFCorp's three subsidiaries - National Meat and Livestock Corporation Sdn Bhd, Agroscience Industries Sdn Bhd and Real Food Company Sdn Bhd.

NFCorp and the four plaintiffs claimed that their leaked bank account information was used by PKR vice-president Mohd Rafizi Ramli to bolster allegations that the plaintiffs had leveraged a government loan to buy eight KL Eco City properties.
