KUALA LUMPUR: Former Malay Mail editor Maurice Khoo Teng Cheng has passed away at 83.
Khoo died at the Shah Alam Hospital last night. He is believed to have had lung complications.
Khoo was the editor of the Malay Mail from 1984 to 1986. Prior to that, he was the afternoon tabloid's sports editor.
Khoo was also a former footballer, having played as a centre forward for Kelantan in the 1955 Malaya Cup Final vs Singapore at the Jalan Besar Stadium. Kelantan lost 1-3.
The veteran journalist is survived by his wife Anne and two daughters.
His memorial will be held at the Nirvana Memorial Centre in Jalan Sungai Besi at 7pm on August 29 and 30.
The funeral will be held at 10am on August 31.
