NSTP Merdeka Photo Exhibition a reminder of country's struggles, says Zahid

PUTRAJAYA: The New Straits Times Press (NSTP) Merdeka Photo Exhibition has come in for praise from Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who said it was a timely reminder for the younger generation of the country's struggle to achieve independence.

"These photos mean a lot in describing the nation's achievements through the years," he said after touring the exhibition at the lobby of the Putrajaya Marriot Hotel today.

The exhibition, a collaborative effort between the Putrajaya Marriot Hotel and NSTP, opens its doors to the public from today until Malaysia Day on Sept 16.

It features photographs and front pages of NSTP newspapers from the colonial period up to the proclamation of independence.

NSTP Resource Centre manager Ramlan Ramli said the exhibition aimed at highlighting historic events in the country and achievement that took place in the country.

"The public now can take a trip down to memory lane and rekindle old memories by a special display of photographs on the country's independence this month," he added.
