WESTERN Digital Corporation has unveiled a new wireless portable storage device that would allow photographers and videographers to work on the filed without having to carry their laptops.
Called the My Passport Wireless Pro, the new palm-sized storage device allows users to easily offload, edit and stream photos or high-definition videos in the field.
According to Western Digital Asia Pacific senior product marketing manager Albert Chang, the new My Passport Wireless Pro is designed to work seamlessly with mobile devices.
"All this while, photographers and videographers have to carry a heavy of equipment, including laptop on the field just because they need to offload the images and videos to process or clear their SD and CF cards," he says.
"This is not the case anymore as there is an SD card reader built-in for you to offload and streamline your content," says Chang, who is also a professional photographer and videographer.
With a battery that provides up to 10 hours of continuous use, the My Passport Wireless Pro allows users to stay in the field longer.
"You can also quickly move files to-and-from My Passport Wireless Pro with the integrated USB 3.0 port. With the transfer speeds of USB 3.0, you save time when transferring large .RAW images or HD videos," he says.
And with the WD Cloud app, users can view their photos and videos as well as do editing on apps they have on their tablet or phones via Wi-Fi connectivity.
Besides that, users can also use the My Cloud mobile app to quickly moves media from their camera and into the Adobe Creative Cloud. This enables them to open, edit and save files wherever you have an internet connection.
The storage device can also doubles up as a powerbank to your smartphones.
The My Passport Wireless Pro comes in just 3 terabyte (TB) capacity in Malaysia an is available at RM1,099.
Besides the My Passport Wireless Pro, Western Digital also launches the My Wireless Pro Series NAS (network attached storage) for home and office use.
This bigger storage comes in the capacity from 4TB to 32TB, whith proces from RM1,759 to RM7,999.
