Eight teenagers tested positive for drugs after cops storm wild party

JOHOR BARU: Eight teenagers were among 45 partygoers tested positive for drugs during a police raid at an apartment unit in Nusa Bestari near Iskandar Puteri early this morning.

The 2am raid was conducted by a team from Iskandar Puteri police headquarters after they received a tip-off that a wild party was being held at the apartment unit.

The team screened about 70 people, aged between 14 and 26, who were at the party.

Johor police chief Datuk Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said the party had just started when the police team arrived at the premises.

"We conducted drug tests on those who were present and 45 of them tested positive, including eight minors," said Wan Najmuddin.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 15 (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 for administering drug into the body.

"I urged parents to monitor their children's activities so that they will not get involved with drugs," Wan Najmuddin said.
