Umno leaders must look after the welfare of all Malaysians, says Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR: The pendulum is swinging in Barisan Nasional's favour hence Umno leaders must look after the welfare of all Malaysians, said Umno vice president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said this at the opening of the Sungai Besar Umno division delegates meeting here today.

"We must take care of the welfare of all Malaysians, regardless of race.

"The pendulum is swinging higher (in BN's favour).

"If we are positive and our machineries as well as strategies are properly arranged and organised, our political pendulum will swing even higher," he said, referring to BN's improved performance in the recent by-elections.

Zahid reminded Umno leaders that allocations for development given them must also be distributed equally.

He said that post mortem results of the Sungai Besar parliamentary constituency's by-election showed signs that the Chinese and Indian community's confidence in BN had returned.

This was despite the victorious Barisan Nasional rep Budiman Mohd Zohdi receiving 16,800 votes, which was lower than the results of previous representative, (the late Tan Sri) Noriah Kasnon' 18,695 votes.
