GEORGE TOWN: Penang today welcomed home her shuttler sons who did the nation proud in the recently-concluded Rio Olympics.
Silver medalists Datuk Lee Chong Wei and Chan Peng Soon were greeted by around 100 fans as soon as they touched down at the Penang International Airport about 9.30am.
They were joined by Chan's mixed doubles partner, Goh Liu Ying.
The trio are expected to join an event in Komtar at 11am where they will be rewarded for their recent achievement.
As soon as Lee, Chan and Goh walked out from the VIP lounge, they were each garlanded with a bouquet by Penang Sports Council director Frederick Tan Teck An.
Shouts of 'Malaysia Boleh' reverberated in the air.
The athletes shook hands with the eager crowd before they were whisked away.
