Honor 8 bravely goes mid-range, releases 5A for the affordable market

KUALA LUMPUR: If beauty had a price, then the Honor 8 just might be a perfect example of the phrase. Known mostly for delivering quality-affordable smartphones, Honor ups its game by going mid-range with its latest flagship, pricing it from RM1,699 to RM1,899.

This marks a huge price jump from when its previous flagship model, the Honor 7, was first launched, which was priced around the RM1,100 to RM1,200 mark depending on the model specs.

But as the statement goes the price point is not without reason; the Honor 8, with its aim to engage a more trendy crowd, is perhaps currently one of the most beautiful looking smartphones in the market, and not without packing some solid specs either.

Honor 8

- Hisilicon Kirin 950 processor, Octa-core (ARM Cortex-A72 4 x 2.3GHz + ARM Cortex-A53 4 x 1.8GHz)

- Android 6.0 Marshmellow with EMUI 4.1

- 32GB (black and white) or 64GB (blue and gold) internal storage with microSD up to 128GB

- 5.2-inch Full-HD display

- Dual 12MP lenses rear camera, 8MP front-facing camera

- Non-removable Li-Po 3000 mAh battery with fast charging

The phone's biggest draw is its 15-layer Aurora Glass finish which gives the phone's rear a flashy, reflective gloss shine few phones have yet to match.

Not forgetting its initial target market, Honor's 5A will be the brand's latest affordable range model priced at RM599 for the black and white colour variant and RM629 for gold.
