(Badminton) Malaysian shuttlers check into Indonesia Masters semifinals

IT was a great day for Malaysian shuttlers at the Indonesia Masters as all of them checked into the semi-finals today.

Mixed doubles' Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing continued their impressive form as they cruised past Indonesia's Lukhi Apri Nugroho-Ririn Amelia with a 21-8, 21-14 victory.

The national No 2 pair, are now hoping to go all the way to clinch their second international title this year.

Kian Meng-Pei Jing, who were only paired late last year, won the Vietnam Open GP in July.

The Malaysian World No 24 will play third seeds Edi Subaktiar-Richi Puspita Dili of Indonesia tomorrow.

In men's doubles qualifiers, Chooi Kah Ming-Low Juan Shen came back from a game down to reach their maiden GP Gold semi-finals following a 15-21, 21-15, 21-18 upset over fourth seeds Hardianto Hardianto-Kenas Adi Haryanto.

Kah Ming-Juan Shen, playing in only their second international tournament together, take on Han Chengkai-Zhou Haodong of China in the last four stage.

Goh Jin Wei, completed a perfect day for Malaysia with a convincing 21-16, 21-18 win over China's Gao Fangjie in the women's singles quarter-finals.

Jin Wei, who has yet to win a GP title takes on second seed Nitchaon Jindapol of Thailand next for a place in the final.

Meanwhile, at the Malaysia International Youth Under-19 championships in Terengganu, Sim Fong Hau reached the boys' singles final with a 4-11, 12-10, 11-9, 11-8 win over top seed Lee Chai Hao of Taiwan.

Fong Hau, plays Singapore's Ryan Ng who defeated Malaysia's Lee Zii Jia 11-7, 11-9, 11-7, next.

Also through to the final were boys' doubles Chen Tang Jie-Man Wei Chong who beat teammates Leong Jun Hao-Fong Hau 11-5, 14-12, 11-8 in the semi-finals today. The Malaysians are up against top seeds Pakin Kuna Anuvit-Natthapat Trinkajee of Thailand.

Girls' doubles M.Thinaah-Tan Sueh Jeou saw off South Korea's Kim Yeo Reum-Lee Yu Rim 10-12, 11-8, 3-11, 11-7, 11-5 in the semi-finals and will play Indonesia's Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma-Ribka Sugiarto of Indonesia tomorrow for the crown.
