PM, wife arrive in Bintulu for Malaysia Day celebrations

BINTULU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor have arrived in Bintulu for this year’s national-level Malaysia Day celebrations.

Bintulu is hosting the event – the commemoration of the date of the formation of Malaysia – for the second time since 2012.

Najib and Rosmah arrived at the Bintulu Airport at about 11am. The prime minister proceeded to the As-Syakirin Mosque here to join its congregation for Friday prayers.

Najib is also scheduled to attend a gathering with top brass and employees of Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) at the Parkcity Everly Hotel at about 3pm.

Najib and Rosmah will then join Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud, and his wife, Toh Puan Raghah Kurdi Taib, together with more than 30,000 people, for Malaysia Day celebrations at the old Bintulu Airport compound.

Also in attendance will be Tan Sri Adenan Satem and Datuk Seri Musa Aman, who are the Chief Ministers of Sarawak and Sabah respectively, as well as federal and state-level ministers from Sarawak and Sabah.
