Superstar Libra returns to Penang after year in China

GEORGE TOWN: After a year of calling China home, Superstar Libra, a 10-deck cruise ship operated by Star Cruises, returned to Penang today to begin offering services from the Penang Port.

Penang Port Commission (PPC) chairman Tan Teik Cheng said Superstar Libra has again chosen Penang Port as its home port following overwhelming response from tourists.

"Superstar Libra… has returned to… Penang, a move which is set to further boost Penang's tourism sector.

"We give our assurance that with the re-emergence of Superstar Libra’s services, the tourism sector will grow further in future," he told a press conference after a ceremony to welcome back Superstar Libra at the Penang Port here this afternoon.

Penang was the home port for Superstar Libra since 2010, but it left for Xiamen, China, in July last year.
