NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi thanked all who gave their trust for him to shoulder the post of deputy Barisan Nasional chairman.
"I think the prime minister (Datuk Seri Najib Razak) who is also BN chairman wants me to chart a plan and strengthen the party machinery, that can no longer depend on conventional strategies in the coming polls," he said.
He also thanked MCA and MIC for proposing him for the post. He said Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammudin Hussein will replace him as the Umno representative in BN.
