KEPALA BATAS: An elderly woman suffered serious injury to the head after a robber slashed her with a parang during a robbery at her house in Kota Aur, Penaga, near here, yesterday.
A witness who declined to be named said the 62-year-old woman was with her mother when a masked man entered the house at about 11am, snatched the jewellery she was wearing, slashed her on the head and fled.
Seberang Perai Utara Police chief ACP Azmi Adam confirmed the incident and said the robbery took place so fast that the woman was unable to find out whether the robber was someone known to her.
“The woman is at the Kepala Batas Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition,” he said.
He appealed to anyone with information on the robbery to contact any police station to facilitate the investigation. -- Bernama
