Opposition can continue dreaming of GE14 win, says Adnan

PUTRAJAYA: The Opposition can continue to dream about winning the 14th General Elections, said Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

“I don’t think they (the Opposition) can win, so let them dream,” he told reporters today.

Adnan said this in response to former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s statement that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin would be prime minister if the Opposition wins the next general election.

Dr Mahathir has said Muhyiddin is the mostly likely candidate should the Opposition win, but it would still depend on whether the party elects him as president and there was coalition consensus on the matter.

On the matter of the Election Commission (EC)’s redelineation exercise, Adnan said BN is meeting today with all component parties’ secretaries-general to discuss how to move forward.

“We have given them time to voice their discontent, which will be forwarded to the EC.

“The Umno Secretariat is also participating in the meeting,” he said.

It was reported that BN component parties nationwide will be meeting to discuss their dissatisfaction with the redelineation exercise before final objections are submitted on Oct 14 to the EC.
