217 people bestowed Federal awards, medals

KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah today presented federal awards and medals for this year to 217 recipients.

Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku, Hajah Haminah was also present at the investiture ceremony held at Istana Negara, in conjunction with His Majesty's birthday celebration on June 4.

Leading the list of the recipients today was Malaysia's Judiciary Appointment Commission member, Tan Sri Sulong Matjeraie who was conferred the Panglima Setia Mahkota (PSM) award, which carries the title 'Tan Sri'. Other recipients of the award were Dimensi Eksklusif (M) Sdn Bhd managing director, Tan Sri Zainul Azman Zainul Aziz; president of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers, Tan Sri Saw Choon Boon; Utusan Melayu Berhad chairman, Tan Sri Mohamad Fatmi Che Salleh; and Malaysian Association of Former Elected Representatives (Mubarak) deputy president, Tan Sri Md Yazid Baba.

Six individuals who received the Panglima Jasa Negara (PJN) award which carries the title 'Datuk' included Kuching consultant surgeon for special children, Datuk Dr Anne Rachel John; Kaisar Properties (M) Sdn Bhd managing director, Datuk Norazam Shah Ibrahim, who is also Yayasan Anak-Anak Yatim Sultanah Haminah board member; and Umno Malaysia Veterans Club deputy chairman, Datuk Noordin Yaani.

Also conferred the PJN award were Finance Ministry's communications director, Datuk Mohamad Ezam Mohd Nor; Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad managing director Datuk Kamalul Arifin Othman and Hydropipes Industries Sdn Bhd executive director, Datuk Ang Chin Tat.

The King also presented the Johan Mangku Negara (JMN) award to Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia deputy vice-chancellor (Academic and Internationalisation), Prof Dr Zulkiple Abdul Ghani; National Cancer Institute's senior consultant and head of its Nuclear Medicine Department, Dr Lee Boon Nang; and Besut MCA division chief, Lee Chan Fook.

Nine others received the Johan Setia Mahkota (JSM) award, including Royal Malaysian Royal Navy Lumut base commander, First Admiral Datuk Rusli Ramli and Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department's head of its money-laundering investigation team, Senior ACP Datuk Khalil Azlan Chik.

Forty people received the Kesatria Mangku Negara (KMN); 66, the Ahli Mangku Negara (AMN); and 88, the Pingat Pangkuan Negara (PPN) awards. -- BERNAMA
